“Winter” Weather

Marhabaan. Been a while…..
So, turns out the weather is bloody lovely out here from October to April. I had been advised of this, but was sceptical and thought 4 v 8 months on the good/awful front was more accurate, but seems a half and half situation.
Some things that amuse me greatly on this topic:
1. There is a weather forecast. Probably not necessary most of the time really.
2. The outdoor heaters came out in December…..when the temp started dropping to 25. 😂😂😂
I note they are being removed now…..must be death by sun on the horizon aka Summer.
3. It is National news when it rains, genuinely. Local papers and web feeds speak worriedly of “moderate rain” hitting the locale. For a Scotsman that is genuinely priceless.
4. To be fair, on the odd occasion it has rained, it has often hammered it down (for a very short period). It would however qualify as “a passing shower” by Scots’ standards, so not a complete embarrassment.
5. The unquestionable refusal of bar staff to allow you to sit outside on a day when it has “rained”.
“Can I sit outside with my drink?”
“No, sir, it’s closed. It was raining.”
“Yes, but that was 8 hours ago and it is 24 degrees.”
“Management has said it is so.”
Lunacy. 😂

I haven’t actually seen much of the sun, usually working. However, managed to get an hour / hour and a half outside a couple of Saturdays back and read my book, tap aff and oblivious. Successfully burnt myself and adopted the lobster look for a couple of days….still evidencing peeling. Reassuringly Scottish. It was only 29 that day too….

Summer is a howler of course. Came over at that time last year, so managed to experience its full delights. More on that presently…..
